little prince
“One day,” you said to me, “I saw the sunset forty-four times!”
And a little later you added:
“You know--one loves the sunset, when one is so sad…”
“Were you so sad, then?” I asked, “on the day of the forty-four sunsets?”
But the little prince made no reply.

love stories
she got pregnant when she was 18
he promised to marry her, they were in love
he went on a business trip to another country
he got a wife
she got a daughter
they had three sons
he also had a drinking and hitting problem
they were together for 45 years
they fell in love last year of high school
when the baby was 4 he left
a year later he came back
we never talked about that year
14 years later he left again
he didn' come back
14 years later he left again
he didn' come back
to my parents
who taught me love
reductionism
(she) was always flustered and always trying to confine things into the
shape of a phrase, like pouring water into a ewer, but great gouts of
meaning and implication invariably ran over and slopped about and were
lost.

this corner of the earth
Like every humming bird and bumblebee
Every sunflower, cloud and every tree
I feel so much a part of this
...
This corner of the earth is like me in many ways
I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play
On the face of this I'm blessed
When the sunlight comes for free
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
